Why come to Manglisi in May

If you have to pick one month for your first visit to Manglisi, pick May. Everything that's great about the place comes together: nature wakes up, the forest is fresh and bright, rivers fill with fish, and the temperature is at its best.

1. Blossom and greenery

At 1200 metres altitude, spring arrives later than in Tbilisi, so May in Manglisi is the peak of awakening. The pine grove fills with the smell of resin, meadows burst with wildflowers, the forest hums after the rains.

2. Trout fishing on the Algeti

The Algeti River, on whose left bank the village sits, and the Algeti reservoir in Tetritskaro are well-known local fishing spots. May is peak fishing season: the water is clear, the fish are biting. Bring your rod — or ask us, we can help find a guide.

3. Perfect weather

May in Manglisi means +18…+22 °C in the daytime, cool starry nights, minimum rain and maximum sun. When Tbilisi is already hitting +28…+30, here it's real spring.

4. Few people

High season hasn't started yet, so May Manglisi is especially quiet. Pine grove, trails, Sioni cathedral — all yours.

5. Soft sun

In May the mountain sun isn't scorching yet — you can walk all day without hiding from it. Ideal time for hiking, picnics and photography.

A weekend idea

Leave Tbilisi on Friday evening (1 hour 15 minutes by car), Saturday morning by the river, barbecue in the yard, Sunday — Sioni cathedral and the pine grove. Back to the city — refreshed.
