The healing air of Manglisi
Manglisi is more than ancient temples and mountain views. Since the early 20th century the village has been known as a climate resort: doctors sent people with lung and bronchial conditions here long before it became fashionable.
What's special about this air
The village sits at about 1200 metres on the southern slopes of the Trialeti range, surrounded by dense coniferous forest. This combination of altitude, landscape and forest creates a special microclimate:
- Pine and cedar pollen — a natural antioxidant with antimicrobial properties.
- Clean mountain oxygen — no city smog.
- Moderate summer temperature — about +18 °C, natural ventilation from mountain-valley winds.
- Low humidity — comfortable for the respiratory tract.
A resort with history
After 1921, when Georgia became part of the Soviet Union, Manglisi turned into an important resort for treating respiratory conditions. Patients with bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, recovering from pneumonia and tuberculosis were sent here.
Who benefits the most
- People with asthma and chronic bronchitis — especially in transitional seasons.
- Those who live in big cities and want to "rinse" their lungs.
- Families with children — for general health.
- Anyone recovering from a long illness.
How to "take" the air
No procedures needed — just walk. Morning walk in the pine grove, daytime rest in the yard, evenings at the grill in the fresh air. After 3–4 days most guests notice: deeper sleep, clearer head, easier breathing.
